RIMMER, David Edward - of Kelowna, formerly of Victoria, passed away March 14, 1989 in his 76th year. He is survived by his loving wife, Adna; two sons, David and his wife, Cheryl of Victoria and Bob and his wife, Shawna of Kelowna; one daughter, Joy and her husband, Wayne Mahar of Belleville, Ontario and four grandchildren; also survived by one sister, Mrs. D. A. Young of High River, Alberta and two brothers, Mrs.. John B. Rimmer of Victoria and Mr. Reg Rimmer of Nova Scotia.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 17, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna with Reverend R. J. Busch officiating. Cremation. Flowers gratefully declined in favor of donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Victoria, B.C. in David's memory. Arrangements through the Memorial Society of B.C. and First Memorial Funeral Services.
David's father, William Rimmer, served in the RCA during both the First and Second World Wars, attaining the rank of RSM.
David's brother, Flight Sergeant Clarence Flint Rimmer went missing during overseas flight operations on 10 Apr 1943 and was reported as missing, presumed dead 11 Apr 1943. Flight Sergeant Rimmer was posted to No. 100 Squadron RAF 13 Mar 1943. His squadron was on a night-time bombing mission targeting the German city of Essen at the time of his death.
