In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
CAMPION, Earl White - As a result of pancreatic cancer and its insidious passage to his lungs, Earl died on Monday, August 24, 2026. He is survived by Ellie his loving wife of 52 years; his son Michael (Simone Petriw) and grandson Oscar; daughter Joy (Chad English) and grandsons Bodhi and Henry. He is also survived by his sister Shirley, brother Bruce (Faye), sister Beryl (Wayne) and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was the youngest of five siblings and predeceased by his parents Gladys and Eugene and sister Doreen.
Earl was born in Souris, MB, and joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1962 under the Venture Plan for officer training. He served for 39 years in various capacities at sea and ashore, including an exchange position with the Royal Navy at HMS Mercury, UK, and CO of CF Station Shelburne, NS. As a civilian, Earl worked at National Defense Headquarters in Ottawa for 11 years, finally retiring in 2017.
In retirement, Ellie and Earl spent idyllic summers at the family cottage and took to the seas with Holland America Cruise Line sailing five of the Seven Seas, seeing the world one port at a time.
Earl was a man of few words, his activities and actions defined him. Above all, he had a deep and loving commitment to his family. He greatly appreciated the care and concern given to Ellie by family, friends and the church community. He wanted a special shoutout to all those in the palliative care stream, they went above and beyond the call of duty from initial diagnosis in May 2026 to the end.
A visitation will be held at Kelly Funeral Home Kanata Chapel, 580 Eagleson Road, Kanata, Ontario on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 6pm to 8pm. A funeral service will be held at Kanata United Church, 33 Leacock Drive, Kanata, on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 2pm, with interment at the National Military Cemetery at some future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or just raise a glass at sunset in his memory. (Arbor Memorial)
