DINN, Lawrence Joseph (Larry) - age 78, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, in Sidney BC, surrounded by his family.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Larry was known for his love of a perfectly planned joke, his steady work ethic, and a deep love for his family. Larry could be counted on to add humour, strength, and caring to any situation, from lending his arm to his mother-in-law to tireless games of tag with his grandchildren. Larry lived an active life, running to work, completing multiple marathons, and sharing this with his children and grandchildren through sports, runs, and playful adventures together.

Born November 15, 1947 in Mount Carmel, Newfoundland, Larry served 32 years in the Royal Canadian Navy, retiring in 1999 to work with the BC Legislature Sergeant-at-Arms until final retirement in 2013.

Predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Hilda Dinn, brother Ron, sister-in-law Loraine, and brothers-in-law Andy and Donald, Larry is survived by his loving family – his wife of 47 years, Judith (nee Foley), daughter Pamela (David), sons Jeffrey (Danielle) and Barry (Christine), and cherished grandchildren Skylar, Willa and Theo. Larry also leaves behind his siblings Marion, Winnie, Joan (Normand), Brian, Mary (Gordon), and Donnie (Doreen), along with his brother-in-law Jim, sisters-in-law Mary Ellen (Leigh) and Brenda (Tony) and many much-loved nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the kindness and compassion of the staff at Sidney All Care, who provided exceptional care to Larry during his time there.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 1:00 p.m. at the Shoal Centre in Sidney, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favourite charity.

Larry's family will forever remember his jokes, his calm and steady presence, and his unwavering love. (The Victoria Times Colonist 20 Dec 2025)
