HILL, William Gordon - It is with sadness we announce the sudden passing of Gordon Hill at his home in Kelowna, BC on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 in his 88 year. Gordie is survived by his loving wife Betty, daughter Krista (Robert) Sorby of Cochrane, AB, two stepsons Rodney (Gail) Crothers of Agassiz, BC and Tom Crothers of Edmonton, AB and stepdaughter Sharon Shaeth of Langley, BC. Also surviving are two sisters Jean (John) Goolin of Winnipeg and Elsie Buchinski of Portage la Prairie and brother Ben (Elsie) Hill of Portage la Prairie along with many nieces and nephews and their families. Gordon was predeceased by his parents Rowland and Elsie (Mason) Hill, three brothers Alick, Dennis and Gerald, his sister Joyce Townsend, two sisters-in-law Alice and Leona, and two brothers-in-law Alf Townsend and Anthoney Buchinski. Gordon was born in the Rossendale district on August 15, 1924. During the last war he served with the Navy (RCNVR). After the war he was employed by the CN Railroad and moved to the Okanagan Valley in the 1950’s where he continued his career with the railroad and also played his favorite sport hockey which he played until he was in his eighties. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life and burial will be held at a later date in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Gordie's memory to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #65, 275 Duke Ave, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N OS5.
