In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
SMITH, Rudolph August (Rudy), Dr. - Peacefully, at Owen Sound Hospital, on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on February 5, 1936, Rudy was in his 88th year.
A beloved father, he will be deeply missed by his sons Robyn (Elizabeth Underhill) of Toronto, and Dustyn, of Owen Sound. Rudy was predeceased by his father, August, and mother Mary (George Fitzgerald).
Rudy was proud to have served in the Royal Canadian Navy. He went on to graduate from the University of Toronto in 1968 with a BSc. In 1972, he graduated from the University of Waterloo as a Doctor of Optometry and began his practice in Owen Sound in the same year.
Friends will be received at the Tannahill Funeral Home, 1178 4th Ave West, Owen Sound, on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial donations to the OSPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. (The Owen Sound Sun Times 14 Dec 2023)
