LUCAS, Laurent (Larry) - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Laurent “Larry” Lucas at the age of 59. Born in Châteauguay, Quebec. Laurent lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to family and country.

 

He leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, Carol Lynn (McLaren); his beloved son, Jeremie; his cherished daughter, Courtney (Jeffrey), and his precious granddaughter, Lillian, who was the light of his life. He also leaves behind his in-laws, Ken & Ann McLaren; sister-in-law, Sandra Dwyer; nieces, Caitlin and Jillian Dwyer and great nephew, Dawson. Laurent was predeceased by his parents, Lucien and Jeanne Lucas and his brother-in-law, Michael Dwyer.

 

Laurent was proud of his French family roots. He will be deeply missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in France and Quebec.

 

Retired Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class Larry Lucas, Naval Weapons Technician proudly served his country for 34 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. Larry rose through the ranks, successfully managing shore and HMCS unit postings including multiple NATO deployments, the Persian Gulf War and traveled to many countries around the world in service to Canada. Upon retirement, he continued his work with Fleetway, bringing the same commitment and integrity that defined his military career. Larry was deeply respected by all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.

 

Those who knew Laurent will remember his sharp wit, his love of plaid, his infectious sense of humour, and his gift for making others laugh even in the hardest of times. He had a kind heart, a generous spirit, and a deep love for his family. His favourite place was his cottage “his sanctuary”, where he found peace and pride in the life he built with his best friend Carol Lynn, was something he cherished deeply. She was his support system, his partner and the glue that held the family together whether he was away on deployment or at home. He was so very proud of his children and all they have accomplished.

 

You are all invited to a celebration of Laurent, Larry, Chief, Papa, Pépé and Uncle Lawrence to pay your respects and say your farewell. His memorial will take place on Friday, 17th of October 2025 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Maritime Cremation Centre, 67 Temple Terrace, Lower Sackville. We encourage you to wear your best plaid attire in his memory.
